Kapitel 17

1 Und3092 sein2388 Sohn1121 Josaphat ward König4427 an seiner Statt und ward mächtig wider Israel3478.

2 Und2428 er legte5414 Kriegsvolk in alle festen1219 Städte5892 Judas und setzte5414 Amtleute5333 im Lande776 Juda3063 und in den Städten5892 Ephraims669, die sein Vater1 Assa gewonnen3920 hatte.

3 Und3092 der HErr3068 war mit Josaphat; denn er wandelte1980 in den vorigen7223 Wegen1870 seines Vaters1 David1732 und suchte1875 nicht Baalim1168,

4 sondern den GOtt430 seines Vaters1, und wandelte1980 in seinen Geboten4687 und nicht nach1875 den Werken4639 Israels3478.

5 Darum bestätigte ihm3027 der HErr3068 das Königreich4467, und3092 ganz Juda3063 gab5414 Josaphat Geschenke4503; und er hatte3559 Reichtum6239 und Ehre3519 die Menge7230.

6 Und da sein Herz3820 mutig ward1361 in den Wegen1870 des HErrn3068, tat5493 er fürder ab die Höhen1116 und Haine842 aus Juda3063.

7 Im dritten7969 Jahr8141 seines Königreichs4427 sandte7971 er seine Fürsten8269 Ben-Hail1134, Obadja5662, Sacharja2148, Nethaneel und Michaja4322, daß sie lehren3925 sollten in den Städten5892 Judas;

8 und6214 mit ihnen die Leviten3881 Semaja8098, Nethanja5418, Sebadja2069, Asael, Semiramoth8070, Jonathan3083, Adonia138, Tobia2900 und3548 Tob-Adonia2899; und mit ihnen die Priester Elisama476 und Joram3088.

9 Und sie3925 lehreten in Juda3063 und hatten das Gesetzbuch5612 des HErrn3068 mit sich; und zogen umher5437 in allen Städten5892 Judas und lehreten das Volk5971.

10 Und3092 es kam die Furcht6343 des HErrn3068 über alle Königreiche4467 in den Landen776, die um Juda3063 her5439 lagen, daß sie nicht stritten3898 wider Josaphat.

11 Und3092 die Philister6430 brachten935 Josaphat Geschenke4503, eine Last4853 Silbers3701. Und3967 die Araber6163 brachten935 ihm siebentausend und7651 siebenhundert7651 Widder6629 und siebentausend und siebenhundert7651 Böcke352.

12 Also nahm Josaphat zu und3092 ward1980 immer4605 größer; und5892 er1129 bauete in Juda3063 Schlösser und Kornstädte4543.

13 Und2428 hatte viel7227 Vorrats in den Städten5892 Judas und streitbare4421 Männer und gewaltige1368 Leute582 zu Jerusalem3389.

14 Und2428 dies war die Ordnung unter ihrer Väter1 Haus1004, die in Juda3063 über6486 die tausend505 Obersten8269 waren: Adna5734, ein Oberster8269, und3967 mit ihm waren dreihunderttausend7969 gewaltige1368 Leute.

15 Neben ihm3027 war Johanan3076, der Oberste8269; und3967 mit ihm waren zweihundertundachtzigtausend.

16 Neben ihm3027 war Amasja6007, der Sohn1121 Sichris2147, der Freiwillige des HErrn3068; und2428 mit ihm waren5068 zweihunderttausend3967 gewaltige1368 Leute.

17 Von den Kindern Benjamin1144 war Eljada450, ein gewaltiger1368 Mann2428; und mit ihm waren5401 zweihunderttausend3967, die mit Bogen7198 und Schilden4043 gerüstet waren.

18 Neben ihm3027 war Josabad3075; und mit ihm2502 waren hundertundachtzigtausend3967, gerüstet zum Heer6635.

19 Diese warteten alle8334 auf den König4428, ohne was der König4428 noch gelegt hatte5414 in die festen4013 Städte5892 im ganzen Juda3063.

2 Chronicles

Chapter 17

1 AND Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead, and strengthened himself against Israel.

2 And he placed mighty men in all the fortified cities of Judah, and appointed governors in the land of Judah and in the cities of Ephraim which Asa his father had taken.

3 And the LORD was with Jehoshaphat because he walked in the first ways of his father David and did not pray to images;

4 But he prayed to the LORD God of his father and walked in his commandments and kept his statutes, and did not do according to the ways of Israel.

5 Therefore the LORD established the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah brought presents to Jehoshaphat and he had riches and honor in abundance.

6 And his heart was strengthened in the ways of the LORD; moreover he uprooted the altars and the high places which were within the territory of Judah.

7 Also in the third year of his reign he sent and called his princes and the commanders of the armies, even to Obadiah, Zechariah, Nathanael, Melachiah, to teach in the cities of Judah.

8 And with them were the Levites, even Shemaiah, Nethaniah, Zechariah, Ashaiel, Natorah, Jonathan, Adonijah, and Tobiah. These were all Levites, and with them were Elishama and Jehoram, priests.

9 And they taught in all the land of Judah, having the book of the law of the LORD with them, and went about throughout all the cities of Judah and taught the people.

10 And the fear of the LORD fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were round about Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.

11 Also some of the cities of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents, silver, and poll tax; and the Arabians brought him flocks, seven thousand and seven hundred rams, and seven thousand and seven hundred he-goats, yearly.

12 And Jehoshaphat grew exceedingly rich; and he built in Judah castles and store cities.

13 And he had much business in the cities of Judah; and the men of war, mighty men of valour, were in Jerusalem.

14 And this is the number of them according to the house of their fathers. Of Judah, the commanders of thousands: Adino the chief, and with him mighty men of valour, three hundred thousand.

15 And next to him was Johanan the commander, and with him two hundred and eighty thousand valiant men.

16 And next to him was Shemai the son of Zerah, with whom the LORD was pleased, and with him two hundred thousand valiant men.

17 And of Benjamin: Eliada, a mighty man of valour, and with him, armed with bow and shield, two hundred thousand.

18 And next to him was Jehozabad, a mighty man, and with him a hundred and eighty thousand ready for the war.

19 These were all who served King Jehoshaphat, besides those whom the king put in the fortified cities throughout all the land of Judah.
